My Interpretation: Franz Kafka's "A Message from the Emperor."

A young man sits dreaming out his window, looking out across the sky at the beautiful sunset and the painted sky.  He dreams of another life and as his mind wanders he dreams of receiving recognition, just once, through the attention of the man his people honor with the title of "emperor."  He realizes that it is just a title, and the man is an ordinary man, but the title still makes this man special and revered.  So special, in fact, that they are willing to move walls and structures in order for people to honor this man.  The boy sits and dreams and imagines this "emperor" as weak and dying and in the midst of his great weakness the "emperor"sends a message to this Chinese boy who sits at the edge of the empire.  To the boy, he recognizes the reality that a thing like this would never happen, but in his fantasy he also realizes that a message like this would never make it to him, because he is too unimportant and too far off and there are too many peopl...

God Sightings

This has been a week of God sightings. This past Monday immediately after receiving a phone call that could have made me very nervous, a beautiful, bright rainbow with clearly defined colors appeared perfectly framed by my living room window on a sunny day.   It was as if God was saying "I promised" and "It will turn out alright." This morning I had a dream where an acquaintance came to my door and asked me to intercede in prayer for him.   And this past week my mom encouraged me to contact this pastor who lives 1,000 miles away whom I have never met to see if he would be willing to meet.  I contacted a member of his church and within 24 hours I received an email response saying that this pastor will be in my neighborhood this upcoming week and was given his cell number! In none of these circumstances was I expecting to hear from God.  Perhaps I should be listening more!

The lyrics to FFH's song "Ready to Fly" captured the hope that I have this morning for my upcoming move. I am ready to be me again. Ready to be confident and full of life! I'm ready to shine! I'm read to fly! I've been here grounded far too long I'm ready to see the open wide Ready to sing a different song I've seen my troubles 'long the way I want to sail towards the sun I want to turn another page I'm on my way I'm ready to fly, I'm ready to soar I'm ready to leave this world behind. I'm ready to open up the door I'm ready to fly, I'm ready to spread my wings across the sky I think it's time I'm ready to go I'm ready to fly. You've told me I could rise above Like an eagle on the wind I can glide upon Your love But I feel the pull of gravity And it's a weight upon my shoulders i can't stay here any longer I've gotta be free And it's been so long Since i've seen the bright morning sun ...

Fairies and the Underworld: Part 1- the passage

The voice on the other end of the phone was very persuasive and the tone reminded me of something enchanted calling to the deepest part of one's soul. My sister, Sunshine, friend, Lily, and I looked at each other and knew we had to respond to the call, we had no choice. With a quick all-knowing glance we decided we would accept and stepped onto the hover boards. Immediately they shot out into the dark of the marbled wooden track. Zipping side to side and around curves, we strangely found our way down the path, much like a skateboarder finds his way through the unknown technological maze of a city in a video game. The path took many unexpected twists and turns. We called each of our mothers on the way, to let them know we wouldn't be coming home for another day. We had to be extra careful of our driving skills as each new dip or twist appeared before us. The path we are on became a tube of wood, each variety mixed together in a mis-matched pattern. At one point we almost ran off...
