The "less"ness of modern life

While looking for sermon illustrations for next Sunday's sermon, I came across this poem that was written 51 years ago! The accuracy of it is pretty incredible. Let me know what you think.

"First dentistry was painless;
Then bicycles were chainless
And carriages were horseless
And may laws, enforceless.

Next, cookery was fireless,
Telegraphy was wireless,
Cigars were nicotineless
And coffee, caffeinless.

Soon oranges were seedless,
The putting green was weedless,
The college boy hatless,
The proper diet, fatless.

Now motor roads are dustless,
The latest steel is rustless,
Our tennis courts are sodless,
Our new religions, godless."

Arthur Guiterman, Gaily The Troubadour, 1936.

I'm sure these statements by Guiterman were considered impossible to some in his day.
